Legendary paint cow horse mare, One Smokin Chic, was laid to rest January 17th due to complications from old age. The tiny mare standing only 13.3, had a heart of a lion, as demonstrated by her notable show career, amassing over $48,113 in reined cow horse earnings. She was the 2008 NRCHA Open Bridle World Champion, 2005 & 2006 APHA World Champion in Junior Working Cowhorse, a NRCHA Supreme Reined Cow Horse, 2008 APHA Reserve World Champion Senior Working Cow Horse, APHA Honor Roll Champion, Colorado Reined Cowhorse Open Derby Champion, Southwest RCHA Open & Fall Derby Champion, and APHA Superior Working Cow Horse with 84 points. She competed in the World's Greatest Horseman competition with trainer Bozo Rogers, earning 7th in a deep class of exceptional horses.

One Smokin Chic was bred by Ronald Knutson of Spokane, Washington, and made her way to Texas with owners Chubby Turner and then Anderson Cattle Company. In 2019, she would find her final home in Stillwater, Oklahoma, when Brian Bickell purchased her at the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sale.

Wheezy was a fiercely protective mother to ten APHA registered foals, including NCHA earner and ACHA derby winner Candi Eyed Jack and NRCHA earner Neighbaline. Her offspring earnings are over $15,000 in both cutting and cow horse. Her last offspring, a colt named Bosalito, is sure to carry on her legacy.

Despite her quirky personality, Wheezy was always exceptionally well behaved. She loved German horse muffins, luxurious deeply bedded stalls, spa days, and the companionship of her fellow “Golden Girl”, Deltas Playgirl. Her barn name “Wheezy” came from the snorting noise she would make when she was excited. It was not uncommon for her to buck, rear and play during breakfast time.

The two mares were laid to rest and buried together on a ridge overlooking the pastures at Bickell Ranches.
